SLSA is offering CMP Rifle Clinics (Civilian Marksmanship Program — www.thecmp.com) open to the public that will provide instruction and familiarization with basic firearm safety, range safety and operation of the U.S. Rifle M1 (Garand .30-06) service rifle. After sign-in and the instruction period we will be firing a “National Match” course of competition fire from the standing, sitting/kneeling and prone positions. If you already have a US service rifle and ammo, you are welcome to bring it. If not, the club will provide everything you need with the exception of the following requirements:
.) Citizen of the US with no felonies.
.) Bring current government issued photo ID and be 18 years old. Under 18 must bring parent.
.) Eye protection & ear protection, (also bring any personal safety/comfort items like a jacket, bottle of water or snack)
.) Cost is $40.00 — includes use of rifle and ammo.
.) Sign up at 8:00 AM — Instruction begins at 9:00 AM.
.) You do not need to be a member of SLSA.
.) You will need to sign an affidavit attesting to the above and have it notarized. SLSA no longer provides notary services . First time participants must bring a notarized form with them or they will not be able to shoot. If SLSA already has your affidavit on file, you will not need another one. Download an Affidavit (if under 18, download Jr. Affidavit), complete, have notarized and bring with you to the program.
.) Please bring a valid ID (under 18 must have parent or guardian).
Best to dress warm and bring a jacket and gloves, it’s usually quite cold at our November program. You may also wish to bring a snack and bottle of water. We usually wrap up between 11:00 AM and Noon.
